Black Moon in transit in Pisces

About every nine years, the Mean Black Moon crosses Pisces for a little under nine months. I would like to say what this passage awakens, for everyone, and where each person can read its echo in their own chart.

What a transit of the Black Moon is

A transit of the Black Moon announces nothing. I want to say this before anything else, because it is the first question I am asked. The Black Moon is not a body that acts; it is a void that moves, and for a few months it stands at one place of the zodiac and of the chart. What it does there is make a lack audible: the Call, which I described on the page Lilith, the Black Moon, makes itself heard where the Black Moon passes.

When it passes through Pisces, this lack takes on the quality of Pisces: a unity to recover. It makes itself heard for everyone, but not at the same place in life: each person receives it in the house of their chart that the sign occupies. That is why I give the collective reading first, then the way to bring it back to oneself.

What this passage awakens

During this passage, what is missing collectively is a unity that does not abolish forms: welcoming what exceeds without dissolving. One feels it in the air of the time as a porousness, a pain before separations and the hardness of the real, and as a temptation of flight, fusion or sacrifice. This is not a period of weakness; it is a period in which the invisible seeks a form that carries it.

Where the answer is sought

I recall the rule I hold from the birth chart, and which holds in transit: each Black Moon has its respondent opposite it, Christos for the Mean, Apollo for the Corrected, Priapus for the True. When the Black Moon crosses Pisces, its three respondents therefore cross Virgo at the same time. The answer, during these months, is sought in the daily gesture: work, service, care, what gives banks to what had no outline.

The dates of the Mean Black Moon in Pisces

The Mean Black Moon advances about forty degrees a year and takes a little under nine months to cross a sign. Its passages through Pisces, computed from the mean lunar apogee:

  • from May 2, 2019 to January 27, 2020, past
  • from March 7, 2028 to December 1, 2028, upcoming
  • from January 10, 2037 to October 7, 2037, upcoming

These dates hold for the Mean, which sets the course of the period. The True Black Moon, for its part, comes and goes: it can enter Pisces, leave it and return several times around these dates, up to about thirty degrees away from the Mean. The Corrected follows an intermediate curve. The application displays all three.

And in your chart

The sign tells the quality of the lack; the house tells where you hear it. To know in which house of your chart Pisces lies, and therefore which area of your life this passage awakens, see the worksheets Lilith in transit through the houses. And if you have a natal Black Moon in Pisces, this passage is a return: the Mean Black Moon comes back to its natal position about every eight years and ten months, and that is one of the moments when the Call makes itself heard most clearly. Frequently asked questions

How long does the Black Moon transit in Pisces last?

A little under nine months for the Mean Black Moon, which returns to the same sign about every eight years and ten months. The True oscillates around these dates and can enter and leave the sign several times.

Is the Lilith transit in Pisces a bad period?

No. A transit of the Black Moon causes nothing; it makes a lack audible, here a unity to recover. What one makes of it depends on the answer one gives it, and that answer is sought opposite, in Virgo.
