Lilith in the birth chart

Black Moon in Scorpio

In Scorpio, the Call takes the quality of the sign: a truth capable of passing through loss, desire and metamorphosis. I would like to show what this lack demands of each of the three Black Moons, and where it finds a livable form.

What Scorpio does to the Call

Scorpio is the sign of water that descends: intensity, secrecy, loss, what transforms. When a Black Moon stands here, the lack lodges in depth. I see this placement in people whom superficial bonds revolt, and who make of every relationship a trial of absolute loyalty; and in others who keep everything at a distance for fear of being reached. The lack is not the darkness attributed to the sign. It is a place left open in what engages, and that place calls.

I then read the three Black Moons separately, because they do not ask for the same thing in the same sign: the Mean seeks a course there, the True brings up what calls in the body, the Corrected seeks attunement between the two. For each, here is what I wrote in volume 1.

Mean Black Moon in Scorpio: the Alicorn

The Mean holds the course, and in Scorpio that course takes the quality of the sign. The demand is fine and it is formidable, and the answer is never to reach the absolute perfectly:

In Scorpio, the Alicorn seeks a truth capable of passing through loss, desire, and metamorphosis without evasion. It can make superficial bonds unbearable and turn every relationship into a test of absolute loyalty, and the response is to give this lucidity a form that transforms without devouring, instead of seeking to control what remains hidden.

True Black Moon in Scorpio: Athena

The True shows what calls in the instant, in the body. In Scorpio, matter rises in its own way, and Athena reveals what can no longer be deferred:

In Scorpio, matter rises with an intensity difficult to hold at a distance: desire, fear, jealousy, survival instinct, fascination, or buried memory. What was contained can suddenly occupy the whole space when a relationship, loss, or transformation reaches a deeper layer of life. Athena then reveals what can no longer remain buried, and the response is to pass through this power without turning it against oneself or using it to possess the other.

Corrected Black Moon in Scorpio: the Unicorn

The Corrected seeks attunement between the course and the push. In Scorpio, that attunement has its own terms:

In Scorpio, attunement is sought in what involves us deeply: desire, power, trust, loss, and transformation. Fusion can become possession, while fear of being touched can keep the other outside all real intimacy. The Unicorn seeks a form capable of bearing intensity without using it to dominate: committing without devouring, transforming without disappearing.

The open cross in Scorpio

Each Black Moon unfolds a cross: four stations that go from the call to the trial of the return, and that occupy the four signs of a single cross of the zodiac. The one starting from Scorpio passes through Aquarius, Taurus and Leo: the call in Scorpio, the price of passage in Aquarius, the response at the point in Taurus, the trial of the return in Leo.

In volume 2 I set side by side, station by station, the two respondents that travel this cross, Apollo for the Corrected, the form made habitable, and Priapus for the True, the power made present. At the first station, I have Priapus say, in Scorpio:

"I want to know what the other is hiding. A secret is not a wall to me: it's a door I want to open."

And Apollo:

"I want to know the depths of things, to touch the unspeakable, to merge with the other in order to be reborn. Death is a door toward a truer life."

The three other stations, and what each one costs, are read in the book.

What the book adds

Volume 1 gives for each Black Moon the complete portrait of the sign, and volume 2 unfolds the open cross in Scorpio over its four stations, for Apollo and for Priapus, with the relationship to the world, to constraint, to otherness and to the future that each one engages. That is where the reading becomes precise, and that is where I left it.

Frequently asked questions

What does Lilith in Scorpio mean?

That the Call of the Black Moon takes the quality of Scorpio: a truth capable of passing through loss, desire and metamorphosis. I do not read it as a shadow, but as a demand seeking a livable form, and that form is not the same for the Mean, the True and the Corrected.

Are my three Black Moons in the same sign?

Not always. The True can stray from the Mean by up to about thirty degrees, and the three are often found in two different signs. The application tells you which ones are in Scorpio.
