In house 9, the Call makes itself heard in meaning and the far away. I would like to show what this lack asks, and why its answer is found not in house 9 but in the house opposite.
What house 9 calls for
The ninth house is the house of the far away and of meaning: journeys, long studies, philosophy, faith, the law one recognizes above oneself. A Black Moon here sets the lack in direction. I meet, with this placement, people who change doctrine as they change country, who seek the truth always one horizon further, or who cling to a certainty because doubt is unbearable to them. The lack is not a flaw. It is a place left open, and that place calls.
The answer stands opposite
Here is the point of method that governs this whole page. Each Black Moon has its respondent, the point facing it in the chart: to the apogee, which moves the Moon away, answers the perigee, which brings it close. The Call occupies one end of the axis, the answer the other. A Black Moon in house 9 therefore has its answer in house 3. What is missing from meaning is not repaired by going further, but by addressing the first word to the stranger sitting opposite.
Three Black Moons, three respondents. Christos answers the Mean, the Alicorn: the Word that accepts to take flesh. Apollo answers the Corrected, the Unicorn: attunement that accepts a realizable form. Priapus answers the True, Athena: vital power become presence in matter. For each, here is the opening of its worksheet in house 3, as I wrote it in volume 2: the figure, the risk, the answer. The facets that follow remain in the book.
Mean Black Moon in house 9: Christos in house 3
The Mean in house 9 carries the Call of the Alicorn in meaning and the far away. Its answer is Christos in house 3, “the first word exchanged”:
In a silent compartment, someone speaks first to the stranger sitting opposite. The Pioneer in house 3 possesses this ordinary courage of contact: a question opens an exchange with a neighbor, a brother, a sister, where each had been waiting for the other to begin. By multiplying contacts, the person may no longer stop with anyone. Speech grows restless, and the bond has no time to form. After opening the exchange, remain long enough to hear what the first word has made possible.

Corrected Black Moon in house 9: Apollo in house 3
The Corrected in house 9 carries the Call of the Unicorn in meaning and the far away. Its answer is Apollo in house 3, “Aiming True with Words”:
In house 3, the Archer-Justiciar passes through speech, learning, and close relationships. Here, a sentence can open a path or close a door. The person quickly spots a contradiction and knows how to get to the essential. They can set a fact straight, ask the question everyone was avoiding, or defend someone with a clean word. Their curiosity has something willful about it: they seek in order to understand, connect information, and transmit what they have discovered. Within their close environment, they readily become the one who names the problem clearly so that a solution becomes possible.

True Black Moon in house 9: Priapus in house 3
The True in house 9 carries the Call of Athena in meaning and the far away. Its answer is Priapus in house 3, “the desire that speaks to the neighbor”:
A word or a glance initiates contact with a frankness that may surprise. In house 3, the Phallus brings a physical presence to everyday exchanges: desire makes itself felt amid ordinary conversation. This direct frankness can become a systematic provocation, a need to test every exchange with a raw word, to the point of making ordinary conversation impossible. Choose the moment when physical frankness enlivens the exchange, and leave other conversations their own rhythm.

What the book adds
Each worksheet of volume 2 continues beyond these three paragraphs: the facets of the respondent, one by one, with their gift, their drift and their attunement. For Christos, the Proclaimer, the Builder, the Visionary, the Reformer; for Apollo, the Poet, the Radiant Sovereign, the Healing Prophet, the Lawgiving Physician; for Priapus, the Pruning Hook, the Club, the Horn of Plenty, Ugliness. That is where the reading becomes precise, and that is where I left it.
Frequently asked questions
What does Lilith in the 9th house mean?
That the Call of the Black Moon makes itself heard in meaning and the far away. I do not read it as a shadow at this point of life, but as a lack that asks for an answer, and that answer takes shape in the opposite house, house 3.
Should I look at the mean, true or corrected Black Moon in house 9?
All three, if they are there. They are not always in the same house, and each has its respondent: Christos for the Mean, Apollo for the Corrected, Priapus for the True. The application tells you which ones are in house 9.
